Once Dr. Oueis, your Ottawa dentist, has determined your candidacy for the placement of a bridge, the two teeth adjacent to the space where the missing tooth was will need to be prepped for the bridge. These adjacent teeth, known as abutment teeth will be filled and contoured to allow for the placement of the dental crown on top of them.
Once your teeth have been prepped, Dr. Oueis, your Ottawa dentist, will take impressions of the teeth so that your partial denture can be constructed in the dental lab.
Don't worry, you're not leaving Oueis Dentistry with that empty space in your smile! Dr. Oueis will provide you with a temporary bridge while you wait for your partial denture to be made. This temporary partial denture will also help to protect your teeth and gums in the meantime.
When your dental bridge has been constructed by the lab, Dr. Oueis, your Ottawa dentist, will remove the temporary partial denture and check to verify the fit and comfort of the restoration. Adjustments can be made if necessary. Dr. Oueis, may temporarily bond the bridge into place for a couple weeks to ensure proper fitting. Once you are comfortable with your permanent fixed denture, Dr. Oueis will permanently bond it into place.
What is a Dental Implant?- A dental implant is a tooth restoration comprised of a small titanium screw and a dental crown.
The titanium screw is drilled in the jawbone where the missing tooth once existed. This screw is then allowed a period of time to fully integrate into the jaw and fuse with the jaw bone. This process is called osseointegration. A temporary crown will be placed to protect the area as it heals.
Once the dental implant is fully integrated into the jaw, the titantium screw is covered with a permanent dental crown and your smile is restored!
